Cassie Burns, M.D.

Cassie K. Burns, M.D., is the Medical Director of Infirmary Medical Clinic’s Comprehensive Pain Management Clinic. Dr. Burns is double board-certified in pain management and anesthesiology and has special training in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of pain. She received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical School in Jackson, Mississippi, where she also completed her anesthesiology residency and interventional pain management fellowship. Dr. Burns is a member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and has been extensively published in the areas of pain management and anesthesia techniques.  

The board variety of treatments available to treat pain is growing rapidly and increasing in complexity. As pain management evolves and grows, Dr. Burns continues to utilize and expand her unique, in-depth training on the physiology of pain. As a Pain Management specialist, Dr. Burns uses the appropriate prescription of medications and procedures, along with the newest interventional techniques to treat various types of pain. With an increasing number of newer and more complex medication and techniques and technologies becoming available every year for treatment of pain, Dr. Burns remains steadfast in her education to provide her patients relief of pain and a chance to regain their lives. She also works intimately with the specialist physicians of Infirmary Neurosurgery and Infirmary Rehabilitation Specialists to provide full, comprehensive pain management to a wide breadth of patients.

Mark Crowell, M.D.

Dr. Mark Crowell will now receive patients through referrals for management of chronic and acute pain. His clinic is located at Infirmary Eastern Shore off of Highway 90 in Daphne, and his practice is affiliated with Rehabilitation Specialists, Pain Management and Infirmary Neurosurgery, located at Mobile Infirmary. This comprehensive, multi-specialty environment provides the highest level of care to patients.

Services include

• Interventional regional blocks for lumbar, thoracic and cervical intervertebral disc syndromes

• Reflex sympathetic dystrophy of upper and lower extremities

• Trigger point injections

• Pharmacological management of chronic pain with drug screen monitoring

Dr. Crowell holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University, completed medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed his residency in anesthesiology with Vanderbilt University. Dr. Crowell is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology – Pain Management and the American Board of Anesthesiology – Anesthesiology. In addition to being a member of the medical staff at Mobile Infirmary since 1984, he has served as chief anesthesiologist at Mobile Infirmary, North Baldwin Infirmary and Infirmary Eastern Shore. He has been practicing interventional pain management since 1998.
