Problems that can regularly affect breast health include:

Mammograms are designed to use small amounts of radiation to examine the inside of the breast and ensure no cancer is present. Our mammograms are conducted by trained radiologists who will analyze the results and then consult with the patients in diagnostic situations.

Our mammogram team has received the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence award for our mammography work. With state-of-the-art technology and a team of specialists, Infirmary Health has worked hard to build a mammography team that can meet the needs of all women.

With almost 40% of women having dense breasts (less fat and more tissue) and mammograms alone may not always work to identify breast cancer. However, our mammographers used the Invenia ABUS 2.0 - an FDA approved mammography system for women with dense breasts to ensure that their breasts are properly screened. Instead of using radiation, this state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to screen the entire breast. The following locations also utilize Genius 3D Mammography technology to examine complex breast tissue to ensure that no cancer is undiagnosed:

  • The Breast Center at Mobile Infirmary
  • The Breast Center at Thomas Hospital
  • North Baldwin Infirmary Imaging Center
  • Infirmary Imaging | Saraland
  • Infirmary Imaging | Hillcrest
  • Thomas Medical Center
