The Mobile Infirmary Internal Medicine Clinic (MIIMC) was established as
a continuity clinic for the Mobile Infirmary Internal Medicine Residency
Program. MIIMC provides ambulatory, primary care to adults and is staffed
by resident physicians and board-certified attending physicians.
MIIMC allows residents to substantially contribute to Infirmary Health's
mission of L.I.F.E. mission while preparing for their future roles as
independent physicians. Throughout the program, this recurring two-week
rotation allows residents to sustain the continuity of care for their
discharged inpatients and develop relationships with new outpatients.
The dedicated two-week blocks allow residents to focus on clinic patients,
providing balance to their clinical rotations, and avoiding the inpatient
versus outpatient struggle. During the clinic rotation, residents will
develop and implement Quality Improvement Projects that improve clinical
outcomes, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.
Furthermore, during these continuity clinic blocks, residents will actively
engage in Tuesday afternoon team-based learning sessions that prioritize
interactive learning.
