Shadow physicians, join hands-on learning sessions, and spend two exciting weeks in the summer at Thomas Hospital.

NextGen Docs is your chance to explore the world of healthcare up close. This program connects Baldwin County high school students with real doctors and medical teams at Thomas Hospital.

Our mission is to:

  • Spark curiosity
  • Build confidence
  • Help you see what it’s really like to become a physician

You’ll gain incredible real-world experience through:

  • Mentorship with physicians who want to see you succeed
  • Two-Week Fall Shadowing Experience at Thomas Hospital
  • Monthly Grand Rounds Jr. sessions designed just for students

Grand Rounds Jr. meets on the third Monday of each month, plus special events!

Who can apply:

  • High school juniors and seniors
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • No medical experience required—just bring your curiosity!

Application Process

All requested items must be completed and submitted to Christina.F.Kirchoff@InfirmaryHealth.org.

  • Copy of the front of your driver’s license.
  • Copy of immunization records.
  • Copy of current TB test results (completed in the last 12 months)
  • Proof of current influenza shot
  • Headshot photo taken in front of a blank space (for your ID badge)
