Infirmary Cancer Care, an affiliate of the UAB O’Neal Cancer Center, has launched a multidisciplinary clinic to provide same-day, advanced care for patients.

The first of its kind on the Gulf Coast, the multidisciplinary clinic delivers comprehensive patient care through multiple specialty clinics, including for patients seeking breast cancer care.

Through a team-based approach, specialists will provide a coordinated process from diagnosis to treatment. The goal is to reduce delays and provide patients with a plan for care that is offered on the same day.

Caroline McGugin, M.D., breast surgeon at Infirmary Cancer Care, spearheaded the opening of the multidisciplinary clinic. She emphasized that it plays a crucial role in improving patient outcomes.

“What sets this clinic apart is the unified approach where patients will leave knowing that they’re supported by a full team of experts who are focused on their overall well-being,” said McGugin. “It’s an exciting milestone to be the first to offer this clinic to our communities.”

Starting in August, patients with breast cancer can schedule appointments. Additional clinics, including a rectal cancer clinic, will be added in the coming months.

To schedule an appointment, call (251) 435-2273. The multidisciplinary clinic is located inside Mobile Infirmary on the third floor at 3 Mobile Infirmary Circle in Mobile.
