Thomas Hospital Foundation

The Thomas Hospital Foundation was created in 1993 to raise funds to help Thomas Hospital provide exceptional healthcare for the community.

The Foundation has funded digital mammography, high definition laparoscopic surgical equipment, a heart catheterization lab devoted to electrophysiology study of the heart and raised $5 million to bring open heart surgery to Baldwin County in 1999. The Foundation funded the major portion of the cardiac rehabilitation facility on Nichols Avenue, as well as all the equipment for the new emergency department.

Thomas Hospital Foundation’s Future Founders committee provides another avenue for people in the community to raise funds for the hospital. Members are typically younger, up-and-coming community leaders who are interested in the future of Thomas Hospital.

Grand Summer Ball 2017

Presenting sponsor of the Grand Summer Ball

Benefactor: BBVA Compass

The Grand Summer Ball, held annually at the Marriott Grand Hotel's ballroom, has raised more than $4 million dollars through the years to benefit the needs of Thomas Hospital. This year, chairmen Ashley Lieb and Leighton Mosteller created an amazing evening for more than 500 people. They chose to donate the money raised to fund 3D mammography equipment at the Breast Center at Thomas Hospital.

More than 482 new cancer cases were diagnosed at Thomas Hospital in 2016. Breast Cancer was the number one cancer found. The 3D mammography equipment aids in the early detection of breast cancer by providing multiple images of breast tissue slices, giving a clearer picture of masses. To fight cancer, Thomas Cancer Care has advanced radiation equipment for all types of cancer and is currently the only cancer center in Baldwin County accredited by the Commission on Cancer. If you would like to learn more about the Thomas Hospital Foundation or donate to help fight cancer, please call Kathy Baugh at 251-279-1512 or email kathy.baugh@infirmaryhealth.org.

Life...It's Worth Giving Campaign

In 2014, the Thomas Hospital Foundation embarked on a capital campaign to build a new birth center to accommodate the growing number of births in Baldwin County. In 2017, thanks to generous community donors who gave the majority of the funds for Thomas Hospital's new birth center,  the new birth center  is now compete. Thomas Hospital is recognized as one of the top hospitals in the nation because of an exceptional staff, a helpful and generous Auxiliary, excellent physicians who practice a the hospital and a Foundation of community donors who know the need for state-of-the art healthcare close to home. Time and time again, mothers have trusted the staff at Thomas Hospital to give them the best birth experience possible. With new, spacious labor and delivery rooms, family-friendly postpartum rooms with large windows, original art by Fairhope artist David Tate lining the halls and adorning the rooms, the surroundings are peaceful and welcoming.

“The second fastest growing demographic in Baldwin County over the next five years is adults ages 25 to 40,” says Ormand Thompson, President of Thomas Hospital. This larger space is a necessity when looking at the population projections for the county. Between 2014 and 2018, the number of people between ages 20 and 39 will grow by 10.5 percent and it is critical that Thomas Hospital is prepared to meet their healthcare needs.”

Thank you to the generous donors who made this unit possible. You will bring smiles to more faces than you can imagine. It is our privilege to honor you on the donor wall in the waiting area of the new birth center and on the sea glass beside each mother's room.
