The Thomas Hospital Foundation was created in 1993 to raise funds to help Thomas Hospital provide exceptional healthcare for the community.
The Foundation has funded digital mammography, high definition laparoscopic surgical equipment, a heart catheterization lab devoted to electrophysiology study of the heart and raised $5 million to bring open heart surgery to Baldwin County in 1999. The Foundation funded the major portion of the cardiac rehabilitation facility on Nichols Avenue, as well as all the equipment for the new emergency department.
Thomas Hospital Foundation’s newly-formed Future Founders committee provides another avenue for people in the community to raise funds for the hospital. Members are typically younger, up-and-coming community leaders who are interested in the future of Thomas Hospital.
For a small donation of $10, you can make a gift in honor of a family member, friend, co-worker, teacher, or business associate. Through this gift, you will partner with Thomas Hospital to provide excellent state-of-the-art healthcare to the people of this community. For $10 per honorarium, the recipient will receive a beautiful card letting them know you have honored them with a donation to the Thomas Hospital Foundation.
Orders received prior to November 30, 2016 may be sent for $8 each. Orders of 50 or more may also be sent for $8 each. All orders will be mailed after Thanksgiving.
Make a difference in the healthcare of the people of this community by giving to the Thomas Hospital Foundation. As always, the proceeds stay right here at Thomas Hospital.

Grand Summer Ball Chairman Amy Snedeker, along with co-chairs Elizabeth Collins and Kitty Wilson, dazzled the crowd with their concept and design at the 30th Annual Grand Summer Ball presented by Quest Diagnostics. The event drew more than 500 attendees.
“The night was fabulous, thanks to the support of our event chairs and Quest Diagnostics, the presenting sponsor,” says Kathy Baugh, Vice President of the Thomas Hospital Foundation. The Foundation also thanks BBVA Compass, Mrs. E. Grace Pilot and Cardiology Associates for contributing at the benefactor level.
Proceeds from this year’s ball will benefit Thomas Hospital’s new Birth Center, a much-needed facility to accommodate the growing needs of Baldwin County. Since its inception, the Grand Summer Ball has raised more than $4 million to provide medical equipment and lifesaving technology for Thomas Hospital.

The Thomas Hospital Foundation has embarked on a capital campaign to build a new birth center to accommodate its growing number of births. The current birth center was designed in 1990 to handle approximately 600 births annually, and it is now seeing almost double that number. The newly renovated birth center will increase in size to 29,000-square-feet, expanding the capacity by more than 30 percent. The new center will include six private triage rooms and five labor and delivery rooms, two operating suites, and 16 postpartum rooms that will allow Thomas Hospital to better serve the needs of its growing patient base.
“The second fastest growing demographic in Baldwin County over the next five years will be adults ages 25 to 40,” says Ormand Thompson, President of Thomas Hospital. This larger space is a necessity when looking at the population projections for the county. Between 2014 and 2018, the number of people between ages 20 and 39 will grow by 10.5 percent and it is critical that Thomas Hospital is prepared to meet their healthcare needs.”
