Thank you for your interest in the Mobile Infirmary Internal Medicine Residency
Program. Below is a list of frequently asked questions covering the mandatory
criteria for applicants. All intern appointments are made in accordance
with the rules of the NRMP. Please refer to the
FAQs for ERAS® Residency Page for additional guidance.
How can I apply to your program?
You must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Do you participate in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP)?
Yes, we participate in the NRMP Match.
Do you participate in program signaling?
Yes. Due to the high volume of applications, we preferentially review those
who signal our program. A limited number of non-signaled applicants may
also be considered as the interview schedule allows.
Is there a cut-off in years from graduation?
Yes. Applicants should be within five years of graduation from medical school.
How many positions are available through the match?
25 Categorical Intern Positions and 10 Preliminary Positions
Note: We do not offer J1 Sponsorship for Preliminary Positions.
What is the deadline for accepting applications?
All completed applications must be submitted by December 1.
How many Letters of Recommendation are required?
At least three (3) letters are required.
ERAS allows up to four (4) letters to be assigned to a program.
What are your USMLE score requirements?
Must pass Step 1 on the first attempt.
Most applicants have Step 1 and 2 scores of 220+.
Step 3 is not required.
We take a holistic approach and do not exclude applicants based solely
on scores.
What are your COMLEX score requirements?
Must pass Level 1 on the first attempt.
Most applicants score 500+ on both.
COMLEX Level 3 is not required.
We take a holistic approach and do not exclude applicants based solely
on scores.
Do you accept International Medical Graduates (IMGs)?
Yes, we welcome applications from International Medical Graduates.
Do I need to be ECFMG certified?
Yes, ECFMG certification is required.
Do you sponsor or accept visas?
We sponsor J1 visas only.
Applicants are responsible for all visa-related fees.
All visa documentation must be completed before intern orientation.
Do you sponsor H1-B visas?
No, we do not sponsor H1-B visas.
Do you accept Employment Authorization Documents (EAD)?
