Infirmary Health’s pharmacy program recognized as a Certified Center of Excellence
The pharmacy program at Infirmary Health has set a new standard of care for patients in Alabama. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) approved Infirmary Health to be an ASHP Certified Center of Excellence in Medication-Use Safety and Pharmacy Practice. The pharmacy program is the first in Alabama to earn this certification, according to ASHP.
The certification is given to healthcare organizations who are demonstrating high-quality pharmacy services and patient care.
“This prestigious recognition affirms we are delivering safe pharmaceutical services, and it also highlights the outstanding work our team provides to the community,” said Lee Ann Cain, RPh, M.B.A., chief operating officer at Thomas Hospital and vice president of pharmacy services at Infirmary Health. “We are committed to providing the best care to our patients, and this designation proves that we are exceeding that commitment.”
Trey Gwin, a registered pharmacist and medication safety coordinator at Infirmary Health, led the team in achieving the certification following an almost year-long process.
“We are grateful for the extraordinary vision and support from our leadership team to obtain this certification,” Gwin said. “Our patients can expect safe, effective, and innovative medication-use practices that enhance their overall experience and may improve their lives.”
From retail and home infusion pharmacy to infusion centers and medication therapy management programs, Infirmary Health consistently grows its pharmacy program. Patients can learn more and view locations here.
