Infirmary Health is adding five new 3D mammography units to its imaging and breast centers in Mobile and Baldwin counties, including three new locations. 3D mammography is essential for women with dense breasts or those who are at high-risk for breast cancer and can detect breast cancer up to 15 months sooner than 2D mammography alone.

Infirmary Health began offering 3D mammography to its patients in 2016 at the Mobile Infirmary Breast Center in Mobile, Thomas Hospital Breast Center in Fairhope and Thomas Medical Center in Daphne. Now, 3D mammography will be available at North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette, Infirmary Imaging in Saraland and Infirmary Imaging at Hillcrest. Additionally, the Mobile Infirmary Breast Center and Thomas Hospital Breast Center will have additional units to make scheduling 3D mammograms even more convenient for patients.

“We are excited to expand our offering of 3D mammography to the women in our community,” said Kenny Breal, President of North Baldwin Infirmary and Vice President of Imaging Services for Infirmary Health. “3D mammography is essential in the early detection and prevention of breast cancer, which is one of the most prevalent kinds of cancer among women in our community. We would especially like to thank the North Baldwin Infirmary Foundation for their support in bringing 3D mammography to Bay Minette.”

The American Cancer Society recommends that women begin annual mammograms at age 45. To learn more about 3D mammography or to schedule an appointment for a mammogram, please call one of our locations listed below.
