What is Match Day?

The Match progress begins in September of a student’s final year of medical school, as they apply to residency programs of their choice. Throughout the fall and winter, applicants were invited to interview with THIMRP. Beginning in February, the THIMRP directors submitted their ranked lists to the National Resident Matching Program where they are then processed during a computerized mathematical algorithm to match applicants with residency programs. On Match Day applicants and resident programs are notified of their placements.

Established in 2019, THIMRP’s goal is to provide excellent internal medicine training and to create physician leaders who will serve the Baldwin County community with integrity and the highest standards of medical care. Thomas Hospital’s residents rotate through Infirmary Health’s diverse medical service offerings including in-patient care, emergency services, outpatient medical clinics and a continuity clinic staffed by the resident physicians and board-certified faculty.
