Prospective Applicants

The Mobile Infirmary General Surgery Residency Program offers ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency training for three residents per year. Below are the official program listings, ID number, and details for the residency:

How to Apply

Applications for categorical or preliminary positions are only accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). We do not accept applications via fax, email, or postal mail.

A complete ERAS application must include

• ERAS Common Application Form
• Curriculum Vitae
• Dean's Letter (MSPE)
• A minimum of three (3) Letters of Recommendation
• Personal Statement
• Photograph (Required)
• USMLE or COMLEX Transcripts

Important Notes:

• USMLE Step 1 score is required with the initial application.
• Step 2 CK score is required before the NRMP rank list submission deadline.
• USMLE Step 3 is not required to apply
• Preference is given to applicants who signal our program.

Visa Information

• Applicants requiring J-1 VISA sponsorship are welcome and encouraged to apply. We want to be transparent, however, that the general surgery recruitment process is highly competitive, and visa sponsorship considerations may factor into the overall selection process. While we cannot guarantee consideration for applicants requiring J-1 sponsorship, all applications will be reviewed in accordance with the program’s recruitment criteria.
