Lee Ann Cain Named Certified Pharmacy Executive Leader
Lee Ann Cain, RPh, MBA, Chief Operating Officer of Thomas Hospital and Vice President of Pharmacy Services for Infirmary Health, has earned the Certified Pharmacy Executive Leader (CPEL) credential from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
This nationally recognized credential highlights advanced leadership expertise in pharmacy and healthcare operations. Designed for experienced pharmacy executives, the certification recognizes leaders who are helping shape the future of healthcare through strategic decision-making, innovation and organizational leadership.
The CPEL credential reflects expertise in key areas including:
- Strategic leadership and vision
- Talent development and workforce leadership
- Executive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Innovation, adaptability and change management in complex health systems
To earn the credential, candidates must complete a competitive review process and demonstrate at least five years of progressive executive leadership experience in a healthcare organization. ASHP launched the program in 2022 as the first credential of its kind focused specifically on pharmacy executive leadership.
Cain said the achievement reflects not only personal growth, but the strength of the teams she works alongside each day.
“I am honored to receive this credential, which reflects the dedication of the exceptional pharmacy teams across Infirmary Health and our shared commitment to advancing patient-centered care,” Cain said. “Pharmacy leaders play an important role in improving quality, safety and innovation throughout healthcare, and I am grateful to work alongside colleagues who continually strive for excellence in serving our communities.”
As Vice President of Pharmacy Services for Infirmary Health, Cain helps oversee pharmacy strategy and operations across the health system while also serving as Chief Operating Officer at Thomas Hospital. Her new credential underscores Infirmary Health’s continued investment in leadership development, innovation and high-quality patient care across the communities it serves.
