Infirmary Health Rehabilitation Specialists welcomes physical medicine and rehabilitation physician Ashley B. Steffens, M.D.

Ashley B. Steffens, M.D., joins Infirmary Health Rehabilitation Specialists after completing her residency at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. Dr. Steffens specializes in treating patients with physical and cognitive disabilities caused by injuries. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians use a range of treatments such as physical therapy, medication, and injections to address a variety of disorders affecting the soft tissue, muscles, nerves, and spine.

Dr. Steffens is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. She earned her doctorate of medicine from the University of Alabama Birmingham’s Heersink School of Medicine. Dr. Steffens completed an internship in Preliminary Medicine at Brookwood Baptist Health in Birmingham.

Infirmary Health Rehabilitation Specialists provide comprehensive treatment for various conditions, including musculoskeletal joint pain, stroke management, spinal cord management, cancer rehabilitation, and amputee care. The physicians are physical medicine and rehabilitation residency trained, providing inpatient services at both the J.L. Bedsole / Rotary Rehabilitation Hospital located inside Mobile Infirmary and the Colony Rehabilitation Hospital located on the third floor of Thomas Hospital. Both hospitals have earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. The team directs and coordinates care with physical, occupational, and speech therapy services, as well as nursing, and makes recommendations on any prosthetics or orthotics necessary.
