Thomas Hospital announces the addition of Paul Glisson, DO, retirement of Michael McBrearty, M.D.

Mobile, Ala. – Thomas Hospital, an affiliate of Infirmary Health, announces that Paul Glisson, DO has accepted the position of Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Assistant Chief Information Officer for Thomas Hospital as of April 2022. Dr. Glisson returns to Infirmary Health from Baptist Healthcare in Pensacola where he most recently served as Vice President of Medical Affairs and Quality and Chief Informatics Officer.

Dr. Glisson earned a B.S. in chemistry from Auburn University in 1992, a Ph.D. in Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 1996 and an MBA in healthcare administration in 2008. From 2001 to 2005, Dr. Glisson served as Emergency Room Medical Director for Thomas Hospital. In addition to his extensive experience and knowledge in emergency medicine and medical record informatics, Dr. Glisson is a published author.

Dr. Glisson succeeds Dr. Michael McBrearty, who recently retired as Vice Medical Affairs for Thomas Hospital. Dr. McBrearty joined the Thomas Hospital leadership team in 1998 as Vice President Medical Affairs. He has had many successful achievements during his 24 years of service, including leadership and growth of the medical staff, commitment to quality and safety initiatives and development and implementation of the internal medicine residency program. Dr. McBrearty provided exemplary leadership in the development of processes and protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic. He will continue to see patients in his private practice.
