North Baldwin Infirmary (NBI), in partnership with UAB Medicine and Sanderling Renal Services, launched a new nephrology telemedicine program in May 2021. This program provides bedside dialysis to patients needing treatment and removes the former burden of needing to transfer dialysis patients to an outside facility.

“Our new nephrology telemedicine program is going very well, and we are proud to offer this service to our community,” said Jo Ann Nix, Chief Nursing Officer of NBI. During the latest COVID-19 surges, having this much-needed service on campus was especially beneficial to patients, as many facilities were unable to accept patient transfers due to the overwhelming census inside the hospitals. As NBI continues to grow, the team is proud to offer state-of-the-art services like this one to the North Baldwin County community.
