Patients receive information on nutrition, smoking, stress, obesity, and other risk factors.

Benefits of cardiac rehabilitation include:

  • Decreased blood pressure
  • Reduced shortness of breath and fatigue in people with heart failure
  • Increased endurance
  • Lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels
  • Decreased emotional stress, depression, and anxiety
  • Increased quality of life

About Pulmonary Rehab

How the program works

Participation in the program begins with a referral from your physician. A member of our team will follow up with you and begin the enrollment process as directed by your doctor. An initial evaluation and orientation will be scheduled. Your exercise plan depends on your physical condition. The staff evaluates and progresses your activity on an individual basis.

Exercise sessions are held two times per week. During your sessions, staff members will observe your blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and overall response to exercise. Exercise space includes a variety of exercise equipment and an indoor walking track. The program is tailored to meet your personal needs.

Education

The education sessions are designed to provide participants with valuable information on the following topics:

  • Lung disease
  • Breathing retraining
  • Medications
  • Healthy living
  • Airway management
  • Smoking cessation

Insurance

Medicare and many other insurance companies offer coverage for pulmonary rehabilitation. You may contact your provider for coverage information.

Maintenance Programs

The maintenance programs enable you to ease slowly into more independent exercise by providing the support you need to safely advance your exercise program. An adult family member or support person may exercise with you as a buddy for an additional fee. You may stay in the maintenance program indefinitely for a monthly fee. A physician referral is required.
