Gavin is new to the gulf coast as he grew up in northeast Alabama. Growing up in a small town instilled a passion for pharmacy in Gavin at a young age which carries on today. Upon graduating high school and completing his undergraduate studies at Auburn University he attended Auburn University’s Harrison School of Pharmacy where he graduated in 2016. Upon graduation he completed two years of post-graduate residency. He completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency in St. Petersburg, FL at Bayfront Health and his PGY-2 in Pharmacy Administration at the Birmingham VA Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. During his time at Auburn as well as during residency, Gavin was involved in many organizations and participated in various leadership roles. Today, his involvement continues with organizations such as ASHP, ALSHP, and organizations outside of pharmacy such as Church of the Highlands. In his spare time Gavin loves to duck hunt, train his black lab named Pearl, fish, and play golf.

Dr. Vega has been with Mobile Infirmary for 15 years as a staff pharmacist, clinical operational pharmacist and currently Pharmacy Education Coordinator. As an active member of the PGY1 Residency program since its inception in 2002, Dr. Vega assumed the position of Residency Director in 2012. She has an extensive background in managing, coordinating projects, and hospital-wide implementation initiatives. As Pharmacy Education Coordinator, she is responsible for creating and executing pharmacist’s and technician’s annual competencies and to provide educational opportunities for the staff, the residents and other healthcare professionals. Dr. Vega’s background in academia and active professional membership enhances her desire to facilitate and support the pharmacy profession and to advance the pharmacy practice model within the organization.

Dr. DuRant has over 25 years of experience in Hospital and Health-System Pharmacy. He has experience in various aspects of hospital pharmacy services including pharmacy operations, clinical services, drug information support, formulary management, administrative support, and pharmacy education. He has served and currently serves on multiple hospital and medical staff committees within Thomas Hospital. Dr. DuRant also has a passion for pharmacy education as he has served as a mentor, preceptor, and advisor for multiple students and pharmacy residents throughout his career. He was the initial founding Residency Program Director for the Mobile Infirmary Pharmacy Residency Program and worked with the departmental staff to secure the initial ASHP accreditation for the program back in 2002. His continued involvement in the program today is as a drug information preceptor, member of the Residency Advisory Council (RAC), and as a mentor to residents within the program. Hobbies and interests of Dr. DuRant include: Spending time with his wife and three children, active involvement in his local church, fishing, camping, and watching college football.
