Scrubs and Scholars | Mobile County Public School System Educators Tour Mobile Infirmary to Explore Student Career Opportunities

Mobile, Ala. – Health science teachers and counselors from Mobile County Public Schools (MCPSS) recently visited Mobile Infirmary for an in-depth look at the hospital’s services and the wide range of healthcare careers available to students.

The visit was part of an ongoing partnership aimed at strengthening career readiness and healthcare education. During the tour, educators met with hospital administrators and professionals from multiple departments including surgery, emergency services, respiratory therapy, and nursing.

"Our goal is to connect what students learn in the classroom with real-world career opportunities," said Ivy Singley, Manager of Employment Services and Workforce Development. "By giving our teachers and counselors firsthand knowledge of the healthcare environment, we can better guide students toward meaningful and rewarding careers in the medical field."

The group also toured various areas of the hospital to see cutting-edge medical equipment and healthcare professionals in action. The experience provided valuable insights into the skills and qualifications needed for careers in healthcare, a rapidly growing industry in Alabama and across the nation.

Mobile Infirmary staff welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with educators and highlight the diverse roles that keep the hospital running smoothly.
