Infirmary Health Offers Free Operation FitKids Summer Camp

Our children may be our future, but according to the American Heart Association, approximately 30 percent of children in the United States are overweight and obese. In a national effort to combat this statistic and keep children healthy and fit, Infirmary Health Fitness Centers offer a free summer camp designed to educate and motivate seven to eleven year-olds.
 
The free camp will be held July 28  to August 1, 2014 from 8 a.m. – noon at the following Infirmary Fitness Center locations:
 
ProHealth Fitness Center: Mobile Infirmary, Mobile • 435-2010
North Baldwin Fitness Center: Bay Minette • 937-9099
Thomas Fitness Center: Thomas Hospital, Fairhope • 279-1684Thomas Fitness Center in Fairhope.
 
Topics include:

  • Move and groove as you eat to win;
  • Heart-smart kids on the liquid lookout;
  • Walk this way/snack attack;
  • Pump it up/how much to eat;
  • Toughen up/cut the fat;
  • Chill out/breakfast…don’t skip it;
  • Putting it all together.

Operation FitKids, a certified program from the American Council on Exercise, educates children and their families on the benefits of regular physical activity and proper nutrition. A physician referral is required. Registration forms may be picked up at any Infirmary Fitness Center location or downloaded from infirmaryhealth.org.
